TITLE: NATIVE AMERICAN EDUCATION PROGRAM TECHNICIAN

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent, and AA degree minimum.
  2. Experience working with children.
  3. Ability to relate to Nativre American children and parents.
  4. Effective verbal, written, listening, and communication skills.
  5. Ability to cooperate with teachers, administrators, clerical staff, and supervisor.
  6. Native American and heritage and/or knowledge and experience with culture, customs, and crafts of at least one tribe.
  7. Positive recommendations/job performance evaluations.
  8. Technologically literate, preferably in Google and/or Microsoft.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Attend Native American Parent Committee Meetings and Executive Meetings.
  2. Serve as a liaison between parents and school. Serve as the District liaison and promote positive relationships and foster improved communication between schools, administrators, and educators with Native American families and tribal community leaders.
  3. Attend educational meetings and in-service meetings.
  4. Assist in supporting the instructional needs of Native American students.
  5. Coordinate and oversee all the Native American Programs, i.e. after school program, culture program, federal programs, tribal consultation, etc.
  6. Work with and encourage Native American students to achieve academic success.
  7. Shop for and purchase materials and supplies (in accordance with Madison District purchasing processes and policies).
  8. Care for assigned space.
  9. Collect Enrollment/Eligibility forms for the Native American students in Madison schools.
  10. Participate in developing goals and objectives of the Native American Program; develop procedures and strategies related to implementing program goals and objectives including standard methods/forms for data collection and record keeping; provide monthly reports to NAPC and District C & I team.
  11. Manage Native American Federal Programs (Title VI & Johnson O’Malley).
  12. Complete various office related tasks such as copying, laminating, phone calls.
  13. Other related duties as assigned.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English as well as the ability to write routine correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups of customers or employees.



REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations / issues. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and verbal form.

 

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated by the  Director for Curriculum and Instruction.

 

GRADE / SALARY SCHEDULE / LENGTH OF WORK YEAR:

GRADE 13 $14.80-$17.50 (DOE) 9 MONTH POSITION/6.5 HOURS PER DAY
