TITLE: Transportation Coordinator

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. High school diploma or GED certificate.
  2. Valid Arizona CDL and school bus endorsement or ability to obtain one within 90 days of assignment.
  3. 3 years of bus driving experience.
  4. Experience with scheduling, routing and supervisory roles. Preferably in a transportation setting.
  5. Ability to read and interpret maps.
  6. Knowledge of Arizona and federal laws, mandates, rules and regulations as applied to student transportation.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively with district employees, parents and students.
  8. Knowledge of the operation of standard office machines.
  9. Experience Word, Excel, Google Suite software and with any commonly used transportation software.
  10. Must comply with all state and federal physical requirements. 
  11. Bilingual preferred.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

 

  1. Provide a positive district image for all parents, students and community members.
  2. Use transportation software to establish, revise and maintain bus routes.
  3. Schedule buses for mainstream transportation routes.
  4. Arrange for drivers for all routes.
  5. Review routes annually for safe and efficient travel.
  6. Make changes to routes as needed and give notice to schools, families and district.
  7. Schedule buses for field trips, sports, special activities and any other needs. Manage billing for these services.
  8. Supervise Bus Drivers and Aides including hiring recommendations, approving hours and leave requests, evaluating performance and employee discipline.
  9. Coordinate and assist with dispatch of district transportation vehicles.
  10. Monitor radio, make decisions quickly, calmly and efficiently.  Handle emergency situations in consideration of moral, legal and ethical outcome.
  11. Gathering data for required reports. Review and submit reports in coordination with the Transportation Supervisor.
  12. Able to use job related chemicals, such as but not limited to the following:  transmission fluid, motor oil, brake fluid, window cleaners, gasoline, diesel fuel, power steering fluid, antifreeze and DEF.
  13. Function as a bus driver when necessary.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Transportation or Transportation Supervisor.

 

LENGTH OF WORK/GRADE ON SALARY SCHEDULE:  

52 Weeks/Benefits (split shift hours if needed) Classified Exempt Salary Range E1 $47,470-$56,513 (DOE)

 

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated by the Transportation Supervisor.

 

SUPERVISON RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Supervised by the Transportation Supervisor.  Exercises supervision of Bus Drivers and Attendants.
