TITLE: MAINTENANCE CRAFTSMAN  – SKILLED – PLUMBER

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possess high school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED).
  2. Five (5) years of plumbing experience (preferred).
  3. Require valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
  4. Require ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and board policies.
  5. Require ability to work independently.
  6. Have or ability to obtain certification for backflow preventers.
  7. Have or ability to obtain certification for boilers.
  8. Relate to public, staff and students in a positive manner.

 

JOB GOAL:

Responsible for the safe condition of all District plumbing needs in such a condition of operating excellence .

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Examine district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventative maintenance.
  2. Accurately order and account for material and labor relative to assignments.
  3. Maintains all safety and code requirements of the State, local and Governing Board guidelines.
  4. Perform general plumbing maintenance work throughout the District such as water fountains, drains, clogged pipes, sewer lines, etc.
  5. Recommend supply and equipment for purchase, and maintain the inventory of district owned hand tools, equipment, hardware, materials, and supplies.
  6. Schedule preventative maintenance with outside contractors for grease trap clean outs and large scale plumbing projects.
  7. Required to be on 24 hour call.
  8. Responsible for annual paperwork and inspection on natural gas line maintenance and repair for the Arizona Corporation Commission.
  9. Understand and apply safety-related precautions as outlined in SDS (safety data sheets).
  10. Contribute to the team by accomplishing other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to sit.  The employee frequently must squat, stoop, or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward.  The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs onto ladders.  The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck or trunk than the average person while performing the duties of this job.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as a tool box.  Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 100 pounds such as motors.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English as well as the ability to write routine correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups of customer or employees.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations / issues. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and verbal form.

 

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated by the Director of Maintenance and Transportation.

 

SUPERVISION:

Supervised by the Director of Maintenance and Transportation.  Exercises no supervisory responsibilities.

 

GRADE /  LENGTH OF WORK YEAR:

Grade  L $22.03-$28.14 (DOE)
